Airbnb has established itself as one of the most popular platforms to book stays when traveling. It's a go-to for so many travelers for it's versatility and variety. I challenged myself to think of a the frequent users and what they would want next. As a result, I thought, why not have a membership option for those trusted users?
Sign up flows can often be bogged down, so I looked at what was most important to the user when looking at Airbnb stays:
- What type of property — Entire house or don't mind sharing?
- Location — Where do you like to travel? Personalized recommendations make the membership more desirable.
- Amenities — Looking for luxury or just a bed to sleep in?
While these are important features to address, to keep the friction low there is a skip button so the user can finish or adjust these later.
For this quick challenge, I kicked things of with a user flow to keep things clear along the way.
Getting ideas out on paper helps clear the mind for better ideas. Luckily, Airbnb has great established flows so this part was nice and easy.
I was then quickly able to jump into wireframing to lay things out to size.
